Have you ever seen something interesting buried deep in the closing credits of a movie or TV show?
If you watch The Terminator, somewhere in the closing credits it mentions Harlan Ellison. He successfully sued the producers for ripping off a couple of episodes of The Outer Limits that he wrote.
The producers of American Pie had to get permission from Don McLean to use that phrase as the title of the movie. It's my understanding that he copyrighted the phrase, and I'm pretty sure there's an acknowledgement to him in the closing credits.
Every episode of the CBS reality show Big Brother carries a closing credit mentioning the estate of George Orwell, for obvious reasons.
Shannen Doherty no longer hosts Scare Tactics, but every episode these days credits her as an "executive consultant", which I have no doubt is required by the contract she signed when she initially agreed to do the show.
Thanks to my recap of the Star Trek: TNG episode "Sub Rosa", we're all well aware of Anne Rice masquerading as "Jeanna F. Gallo" in the closing credits of that episode.
My gut feeling is that the producers of this fall's Chris Rock UPN sitcom Everbody Hates Chris had to give some money to Ray Romano, because of the similarity of the title to Everybody Loves Raymond. I have absolutely no proof of this, but I'm sure this is what happened. Maybe we'll find out for sure this fall when the show airs and we can read the closing credits.
Anyway, has anyone else seen any interesting tidbits in the closing credits of a movie or TV show?

The closing credits of the movie Happy, Texas has a long tongue-in-cheek apology to the residents of the actual Happy, Texas for changing around their town in the movie. Actually it is something like "Sorry that we've never actually been to your town. We're sure it is nice..."
In the movie, Happy seems like a nice place in South Texas... with big orange groves. In reality, Happy is a tiny cotton farming community in the panhandle. Flat, windy, and no trees for miles. It is 'happy' only in name. |
I am now switching over to Amanda's helmet microphone. Now I’m turning on her invisible electromagnetic ray screen which forms a protective layer over our faces. [EOT] You know what would have saved this movie? Surf music. Man, surf music makes anything good. |

Instead of a standard disclaimer in BAD TASTE, we get this: Any similarity with persons living or dead is an accident. Sorry.
Within the disclaimer for the last three PHANTASM movies: "...violators will face severe civil and criminal penalties and the wrath of the Tall Man." |
Rome: Would somebody *please* shoot this guy? Morgan: What does it look like we're doin'? Rome: Missing! |

| I'm sure I've seen a few zombie/vampire flicks that have in their legal boiler plate "any similarity to persons living, dead or undead is purely coincidental..." They cant resist it. |

There's the bizarre credit in "The Swarm"
"The African Killer Bees depicted in this movie should not be confused with the hard working American bee, which provides us honey." |

No mention of the ZAZ films yet? My favorite is the recipe for brownies from Top Secret.
The 7th Guest has some great jokes at the end, like "Any resemblance...is purely coicidental and just one more proof of the existance of the paranormal." |
So what if your solo movies fell through so the studio decided to make a Justice League movie and introduce all of you at once but other directors have gone on record wishing that they'd waited until the Batman and Superman trilogies are done not to mention the fact that Christian Bale and Brandon Routh won't be along to give continuity which the fans desperately want but the studio seems to think that people won't be confused or turned off by much younger looking actors and are still rushing to make it a summer tentpole in spite of the innate fan disapproval on every fansite online which the studios claim to respect but every bit of forward momentum on this project causes fans everywhere to believe otherwise? It could still be okay. |

A recent episode of Superman (the cartoon) that was broadcast on Boomerang had Supes and Lobo trying to break out of an interstellar zoo housing the last of any particular animal's kind. Supes was there as the last suviving Kryptonian (this was pre-Supergirl) and Lobo was there as the last of whatever he is. During the course of the breakout, the zoo gets well and truly trashed and in the credits is this notice: "No animals, aliens or robots were harmed during the making of this motion picture."

From Mortal Kombat... "Snake and insect action was monitored by the American Humane Association, which commends the filmmaker for his responsible and sensitive treatment of even the smallest of Earth's creatures." I dont even remember any snake and insect "action".

| The Naked Gun Credits gave me some good chuckles with their credits given for people who had only one line. "You killed him!" was played by... |

| The biggest laugh I've gotten out of a credit was actually for The Rock. They actually have someone listed as "Marine That Dies". |

Yeah there is an acknowledgement. Don't ask me how I know that.
The first thing that popped into my mind was The Howling: New Moon Rising, which had this credit: "The events depicted in this motion picture are fictitious. The characters depicted in Pioneer Town [sic] are real." |

I just thought of another dumb thing in the closing credits. Santa Claus: The Movie had a logo in the opening credits, and apparently it was copyrighted, like the Superman logo. So during the closing credits I see "[Santa Claus logo] (c) blah blah blah..." and I'm wondering, why in the hell does this movie have two copyright notices? Then I realized the second copyright notice was specifically for the logo, not the movie. I guess they thought people would be rushing to snap up those Santa Claus t-shirts or something.
