Which episode of Deep Space Nine would you like to see reviewed in the Worst of Trek?
Now that the Worst of Trek section contains two episodes each of the original series and The Next Generation, it's time to turn my sights to the next chronological series, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
I've done research and gotten feedback on the worst episodes of DS9, and the list below is what I've found is generally considered the worst of the series. Vote for one of these, and the episode with the most votes will be reviewed next in the Worst of Trek*!
Here are the episode synopses, courtesy of StarTrek.com:
"Move Along Home" - Quark's attempt at deception toward a newly-encountered alien race places the space station's senior officers in a labyrinth of danger.
"If Wishes Were Horses" - When members of the station find their fantasies coming to life, it becomes the prelude to a very real danger which threatens everyone
"The Forsaken" - While an alien entity wreaks havoc with the station's computer, the irrepressible Lwaxana Troi sets her sights for romance — with Odo!
"Second Sight" - Sisko falls in love for the first time since his wife's death, but the object of his affections may not be all that she seems.
"Profit and Loss" - When Quark is reunited with the love of his life, a Cardassian who is now a fugitive, he is ready to sacrifice everything to win her back.
"Meridian" - Dax falls in love with a man who will soon disappear with his planet into another dimension for 60 years.
"Fascination" - A Bajoran celebration on the station serves as the backdrop for an epidemic of inexplicable romantic attractions among the crew.
"The Muse" - While Odo provides shelter for a pregnant Lwaxana Troi, Jake Sisko falls under the spell of a mysterious woman.
"Looking for Par'mach in All the Wrong Places" - Quark must fight for honor — Klingon style.
"Let He Who Is Without Sin..." - Worf's relationship with Dax hits a rough spot, and he plans to discuss his feelings during their vacation on Risa.
"One Little Ship" - In order to investigate a rare subspace phenomenon, Dax, O'Brien, and Bashir board the Runabout, U.S.S. Rubicon, that is shrunken to four inches long.
"Profit and Lace" - When Zek's status as the Ferengi Grand Nagus is in jeopardy following his revolutionary ideas about female rights, Quark temporarily changes sexes to prove a point.
"Take Me Out to the Holosuite" - A group of Deep Space Nine rookies answer Sisko's challenge to try and beat a Vulcan baseball team.
"The Emperor's New Cloak" - Grand Nagus Zek is abducted and held hostage by Alliance members from the mirror universe.
"Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang" - Vic's is about to be taken over by the heavy-handed mobster Frankie Eyes.
* - The Fine Print: I can't 100% guarantee that I'll review the winning episode. I still have to see if I can generate enough funny material to justify a review, but I promise I'll try my best.

nice selection of episodes, personally i always loved any episode where quark was the main feature, though i kinda wish you included the episode where they played baseball with i think it was the vulcans in a holosuite. cant recall the name of it just this minute. - Take Me Out To The Holo-Suite is the name. probably not horrible but incredibly lame premise. |

The baseball one was a misfire too as Sisko recruits the cast to play against some arrogant Vulcans--hey, aren't these the aliens that aren't supposed to express emotions? Sheesh.
Still, not as bad as the Ferengi homeworld episodes, which tended to be among the series worst (much as I enjoy Shimmerman's Quark). To me, the really peculiar thing is now much the writers raided old stereotypes about Jews to depict Ferengi, which makes them doubly offensive (avaricious, big-nosed, big-eared, conniving greedheads with hair coming out of their ears? How could Wallace Shawn even stand to be part of it?) |

| Knowing nothing about the series, I voted for If Wishes Were Horses just because the premise seems to offer the most opportunities for good snark. By the way, is Let He Who Is Without Sin the one that ends with the woman getting married naked, and then sharing a hot tub with Worf while he says "I'm just supposed to sit here?"? I saw that at my grandparents' house a while ago and it's been bugging me. |
So what if your solo movies fell through so the studio decided to make a Justice League movie and introduce all of you at once but other directors have gone on record wishing that they'd waited until the Batman and Superman trilogies are done not to mention the fact that Christian Bale and Brandon Routh won't be along to give continuity which the fans desperately want but the studio seems to think that people won't be confused or turned off by much younger looking actors and are still rushing to make it a summer tentpole in spite of the innate fan disapproval on every fansite online which the studios claim to respect but every bit of forward momentum on this project causes fans everywhere to believe otherwise? It could still be okay. |

| I voted Profit and Lace, since the note about Quark changing sexes just sounds goofy, and should be prime for a goldmine of humor. |

Actually, Lwaxana Troi is in three of these, The Forsaken, The Muse, and Fascination. In fact, I think all of Lwaxana's DS9 episodes are on this list, which really says something about the usefulness of the character.
EDIT: And the episode Ryan mentioned was actually the TNG episode "Cost of Living", which I came very close to reviewing before I settled on "The Outrageous Okona". |

I'm sorry, but I don't think I can vote on this one. I loved DS9 too much to ever think bad of it, even though I know it had stinkers just like the other 3 series (I am NOT counting Enterprise ).
Also, I haven't seen a single episode of the show in years. If only the DS9 DVD sets weren't so frickin' expensive. |

Three questions: 1. How long will this poll last? 2. How long till you finish and post your review? 3. Do you know when your next review will be published? |

I agree on the both counts - DS9 is terrific, and the DVDs cost too much.
Spike TV has been running the show, although not neccesary in order. Curiously, they just ran "Looking for Par'mach in All the Wrong Places" and "Let He Who Is Without Sin..." this week.
If I had to vote for a bad DS9 episode, I choose "The Muse." It edges out "Meridian" because it has two uninteresting storylines instead of just one. I haven't seen the last three on the list. |

Until I'm satisfied that pretty much everybody who's going to vote on it has already voted on it. (It seems like the voting action usually dies down by the fourth or fifth day.) Either that, or until another episode gets more votes than "Profit and Lace", whichever comes first. quote: 2. How long till you finish and post your review?
Well, you know me, I don't like to serve a review before it's time. But I'm shooting for something in the first two weeks of August.quote: 3. Do you know when your next review will be published?
See the answer to #2.

I really only paid attention to DS9 in it's last 2-3 seasons. And for the most part, they were good. It helped that they had a good continuing storyline with the war, the Jhemadar etc.
I have only seen a few from the list above, as I did not watch it much in it's early years. However, I remember seeing "Second Sight" when it first came out about 1994 and found it VERY boring and the 'lover' of Sisko to be VERY annoying, so I went with that one. |

I voted for Profit and Lace, because as much of a fan of Armin Shimerman as I am, the Ferengi episodes were just awful for the most part.
I'd vote for Meridian, but you've already reviewed Sub Rosa and this is pretty much the exact same episode. |

This may not have anything to do with DS9, but at least it involves Star Trek... Does anyone have any idea of this?: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00023P4F6/104-8996921-8971129 For those in the no, this is a collection of good Captain Picard in his shining moments in a few episodes from each season: The Big Goodbye, Sarek, Family (the one after the Borg are stopped at Earth), The Drumhead, Darmok (where he almost makes a fool out of himself speaking in metaphors), The Inner Light (where he lives in some kind of alternate lifetime) and Tapestry (where Q helps to show him yet another alternate lifetime of his). Not sure why I haven't heard of this before... |
